The Story Behind SOLLYS Design
Sollys means sunlight in Danish,
a name that reflects both
my personal journey
and my design philosophy.
My passion for interiors began during
my years in Denmark
where I learned that even in places with little natural light,
you can create warm, uplifting space
that nurture the soft and gentle light.
This belief guides my work today:
Whether in Singapore or in Japan,
I aim to design spaces that bring
positivity, comfort,
and that reflects who you are.
About Me

-Born in 1982, from Sapporo, Hokkaido -Graduate of Yokohama City University, Faculty of International Studies -Studied abroad at California State University, San Diego, U.S.A. Currently based in Singapore with my husband and two daughters Hobbies: Running, surfing, traveling, and dancing to loud music
My career began far from the design world. Upon graduation from college, I started working at a Danish shipping company in Copenhagen. It was there that I fell in love with the beauty and depth of interior design. Back in Japan, I got married and moved to Bangkok, Thailand, accompanying my husband on his assignment. There, I worked with a Thai furniture brand and studied furniture design. After giving birth in Bangkok, I earned my Interior Coordinator qualification, looking ahead to my future career. Back in Japan again, I joined a Tokyo-based interior styling firm, and designed over 300 private residences and model rooms over three years. When my husband’s work took us to Singapore, I joined an imported furniture store while also offering private interior consultations. In 2020, I launched my own business as HANA DESIGN. By 2021, I had provided interior design and styling services for 46 clients, including residences and offices, earning strong support, particularly from the Japanese community in Singapore. In 2022, I rebranded to SOLLYS Design, and in 2023, incorporated the business as Sollys Interior Design Pte. Ltd., continuing my mission.
