At Sollys Design, an interior design studio in Singapore, we’ve compiled these FAQs. They will help you proceed with confidence when requesting interior coordination or renovation.
We’ve organized the FAQ into three parts: before, during, and after your project.
You’re always welcome to ask about anything not covered below. Feel free to contact us via this page.
A. After your inquiry, we offer a free 30-minute Zoom consultation.
We’ll listen to your needs (interior coordination or renovation) and explain the next steps. If you prefer online advice only, you can also book a 90-minute online session (S$300).
This is a new service starting August 2025. The online session does not include design proposals, procurement, or construction. However, you’ll have ample time to consult and get guidance to make your Singapore home more comfortable. If you later commission Sollys Design for design or construction, you’ll also receive a S$300 cashback.
A. As early as possible is recommended. You can also consult online from Japan.
For interior coordination, two months is a comfortable timeline through delivery. However, we have also handled three-week turnarounds—please ask.
Before choosing a property: Ideally, consult once you narrow down your options but before signing. We can discuss layouts. In addition, we can advise on removing items and making requests to the landlord.
After the property is decided: We’ll propose furniture and interior plans tailored to the unit and layout.
Currently living in your home: We also handle makeovers and renovation for occupied homes.
We’re flexible. However, for residences please contact us around six months in advance. For shops and offices, reach out as early as possible.
A. We typically handle total coordination including living and dining, but please consult us—we’re flexible.
A. Absolutely—yes.
A. We do not set a minimum. Please see this article on furniture budget ranges (three tiers).
A. Yes. We can propose designs that make the most of what you have. We’ll discuss your budget and preferences and then decide on any additional furniture or decor as needed.
A.After sign-up, we share the design proposal and item list. Next, we usually conduct about three showroom tours. If contractor direction is needed, we attend on site. For daily updates, we recommend WhatsApp.
As a rough guide, please refer to the following schedule.
Interior coordination: minimum 3 weeks; on average around 2 months (varies by product lead times)
Renovation: depends on scope, typically from about 6 months
Office/store design & renovation: around 3–4 months or longer
A. We work with trusted local contractors to handle everything from design to construction management. See our renovation case studies here.
A. Payments to Sollys Design are for the “design fee,” which is requested upfront in a single payment. Other actual costs—such as furniture purchases and construction—are paid by the client directly to the respective shops and contractors.
Design fee: collected upfront in a single payment (for renovations, installments are generally used).
Furniture purchases: usually paid in full; for imported items, payments may be split into a deposit and a pre-delivery balance.
Construction costs: paid directly to the contractor.
A. When purchasing furniture through Sollys Design, some brands may offer approximately 5–20% off the regular price. High-end brands are more likely to offer designer discounts. It’s often less expensive than buying in Japan. (Varies by store.)
A. Few shops in Singapore provide cut samples. Our designer (Ishii) checks materials and textures in person. She then sends photos and videos to explain the details clearly.
A. Yes, if it’s within the contract period. Additional purchases are at the client’s expense, but we do not charge additional design fees. After the contract ends, additional design fees may apply.
A. We do not perform repairs ourselves, but we can introduce relevant stores or service providers and support you through the process.
A.When you engage us, we explain what reinstatement will be required. At move-out, arranging contractors is a paid service. Still, we can advise and support you during the process.
A. Some clients take items back. Others sell second-hand or pass them to the next tenant.
A. Yes, of course. Many of our clients come back as repeat customers. We also apply a repeat-client discount to the design fee. For a real example, compare photos from the initial engagement and the second engagement after moving within Singapore.
